Educational Workshops
Poi Passion are workshop leader specialists in the art of poi spinning - with years of experience in the educational system running workshops all over the UK.
We take a professional approach to our work and the Poi Passion team is committed to providing unique learning opportunities for all participants. Poi Passion teachers will take you on a tribal, historic, physical and mental journey through the art and history of poi and dance.
Our educational workshops are about developing childrens concentration, co-ordination, movement and creative thinking. We will work together being part of a 'tribe of warriors' to demonstrate the art of poi.

We follow a structured and disciplined format and also can adopt a flexible approach. These can be one-off introductory sessions or a program of ongoing work. All participants are encouraged to reflect on their learning and will be given evaluation forms so we can follow their progression.
We cater for schools, after-school clubs, summer school clubs, youth groups, youth centres, theatre groups and agents. We work with all ages and abilities throughout the Key Stages and closely with dyslexic ADHA and autism.
Poi Passion will case study some of your children with learning difficulties and we will bring you and the student amazing results. There are different workshops to choose from which can be arranged to suit your requirements.

One hour Poi or Staff Workshop
This workshop is dedicated to teaching the basic skills of the Maori poi dance.
You will be put to the test with your co-ordination skills. This is a disciplined and structured workshop where we work with beats and rhythms, to create the typical tribal dance of the Maori warriors.
Mask Making
This workshop will enable you to work in small groups. You will be asked to create your own tribal mask. Getting ideas from each and working together, you will express yourselves through paint and colours.
Costume Making Workshop
This workshop is a chance to create your own tribal skirts, using recalled plastic bags and is part of displaying your days work. This is a fun and creative workshop.
Tribal Dance Moves
This workshop teaches basic tribal dance foot and body movements - creating a positive energy within the group. The group will be asked to express themselves through freedom of dance. This is a very fun and exciting workshop!
