An experienced performer, choreographer, dancer and workshop leader, Kate is renowned in the UK for her work in the community; running events and participating in carnivals, festivals, after-school clubs and summer camps. She thrives on the ability to make a difference in the lives of those she works with, especially children with special needs and learning disabilities.
Kate’s love of the martial art of poi spinning, motivated her to start Poi Passion, instigated whilst traveling in Israel, teaching tourists during the day and performing for local nightclubs and hotels by night. On returning to the UK, Kate quickly established a host of workshops and has now trained over 10,000 children and adults to help master this art.
In 2006, her community spirited nature led her to start a fundraising campaign for Radio Reverb, a Brighton based community radio station. She then founded and hosted The Global Dance Show for over 2 years, interviewing a multitude of dancers from all disciplines and inspiring many to start moving to their own rhythm.
As a performer, Kate has worked across the globe, including events for Barcardi, numerous festivals including Womad and Glastonbury, for television on both ITV and the BBC. Her abilities as a street and contemporary dancer are now infused with her martial arts skills, where she has trained in the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. She also demonstrated her leadership and organizational skills at the Out of the Ordinary Festival 2009, both as Production Manager and on stage as one of the headline performances with the Poi Passion fire troop.
In early 2009, Kate co-founded a local not for profit organization, CircusSeen, devoted to giving young people the opportunity to enjoy learning circus skills in weekly workshops, practice days in the park and displays across the south of England.
Kate is available for solo or group performances, running workshops and events in poi, fire, stilts and circus skills.
