Poi Passion Teacher Profiles: Anna

Over the last 10 years Fairy Lily Lou, also known as Lily Karrouze, has entertained thousands upon thousands of children and adults alike with her cheeky style and has become a well known personality in her field.

Starting, as many do, on the holiday site circuit she then went on to work for a leading event company in London which saw the birth of her main character, Fairy Lily Lou. Bringing squeals of giggles from children she worked hard learning new skills to bring out the best in even the most shy of children.

Magic, balloon modelling and weaving a mystical story became the building blocks to her performance preferring the more traditional methods of entertainment to get every child laughing until their sides split! (Though thankfully no law suits have yet insued due to hospitalisation of splitting sides.......)

Setting up Lily Lou Entertainment she quickly realised the secret to a good entertainer is based on a child like personae and whilst her company grew with leaps and bounds she started training up potential fairies in her style of entertainment to carry the giggles even further. Many failed but the few that made it through the rigorous training regime have become Lily's loyal fairies, hoping one day to take over the world in a blaze of fairy dust!

She stumbled upon spinning poi (it's everywhere in Brighton) and quickly became one of Poi Passion's best students, working hard and completing her beginners, intermediate, advanced, teacher training and choreography qualifications to become Kate Wright's main dance partner and co-teacher of Poi Passion. Teaching on weekdays and performing with fire of an evening Lily discovered a whole new audience and learnt how to adapt her performing skills to this new group of adults.

After co-founding a Circus charity in Worthing she turned her attention to new skills including stilt walking, juggling, staff, diablo, and after 27 years of trying finally managed to hula hoop! Now she's working on perfecting this skill and progressing to a fire hoop for future performances.
