Hello, hope the sun brings you well being!
Poi Passion is happy to say on the 26th and 29th of July 2010, world poi teacher Alien Jon is visiting Poi Passion School of Poi and Fire Performance. He's offering 4 workshops, listed below.
We do hope to see you there, as we are looking forward to exploring this art more as a team of dancers!
Is known around the world as a playful, yet thorough, teacher of Flow Arts. Equal parts Flow artist and Flow scientist, he loves innovative ideas and the creative spark. His poi wizardry draws insiration from T'ai Ji, Aikido, dance, and other Flow Arts including contact staff and double staff, contact juggling, and flower sticks.
This workshop is indispensable for beginners and advanced spinners alike. Regardless of our current skill level, when playing at the edge of our technical ability, there is a tendency to plant our feet, lock up our body, and put all of our focus into what our hands are doing with the poi.
It gives you the forms and understanding you need to unlock your body and increase your freedom of movement, all wile keeping your planes clean.
Some things we'll explore in this class:
Prepare to become a human spirograph!
This class is a different approach to learning linear moves, flowers, and poi geometry in general. If we are going to paint beautiful geometric pictures with poi, first we learn the brushstrokes.
Empowered by these techniques and new understanding, you will be able to more methodically approach flowers & linear moves wile keeping clean planes.
Some things we'll explore in this class:
What is more fun than spinning poi by yourself? Spinning poi with a partner! In this workshop, we will learn how align in the space between us, synchronizing different timings with our partner to make baeutiful patterns, and coreographies. Come ready to collaborate with other classmates.
