Our workshops can cater for different groups. We cover many different areas of circus skills, training Beavers, Rainbows, Cubs, Brownies, Scouts and Guides. We're trained to work with these individuals on taking them through each key stage of passing their circus skills and performance badges.
We run structured workshops which include over 10 different kinds of circus skills, working each group up to performance level where they can display their work in front of an audience. This gives the students a chance to be creative and allows them to put on their own shows/performance. By giving the students the freedom to create their own show we encourages them to work harder on learning there circus skills quickly.
There are countless amounts of benefits to learning circus skills. Visit the Advantages / Benefits page for more information.
We give examples of how to use the equipment and perform demonstrations, this is interactive with students as we ask after we have demonstrated how to use the equipment - one or two students from the workshop to come up and show what we have just shown. We also do a risk assessment recognising the dangerous parts of circus skills and working in large groups with equipment, and recognising the risks in the room. We also talk about the history of the equipment and which country the students think it originates from and where it really comes from. This part can often come as a surprise to the individuals. Many circus skills are linked to numerous countries as well as martial arts and dance. This can last up to 30 minutes depending on the length off workshop.
We separate the room into 8 to 12 sections depending on equipment that is being used. We will break the students down into groups and send them to an activity they will get to work on and will change going clockwise around the room so that each group gets a go on each piece of equipment. The students will then have a free play session where they play on any piece or equipment they want, and rehearse their show as solo performers or together in groups.
We talk the students through different ways of performing i.e. stage fright, nervousness, smiling, facing the audience, bowing and encouraging each other along the way. Within this we create a sense of being in a big top tent circus!
For the last part of the workshop, student will put on a performance with one of workshop leaders acting as ring master to create a big top tent feeling.
The price for a 1 hour workshop is just £100, for 2 hours is £150, 4 hours - £200, and 6 hours - £300.
You can also hire our TightWire rig that comes with an extra teacher. This is just £75 for the 1 hour workshop or £100 for workshops over an hour.
Workshops with one teacher/leader can hold up to 25 students. If there are more than 25 students we will ask another teacher to assist in this class there will be an additional cost of £50 unless the TightWire is also hired.
All are teachers and performers are CRB checked and hold full public liability.
